The BBC’s consumer-affairs “Watchdog” program found that samples of iced drinks from Starbucks and two other UK chains — Costa Coffee and Caffe Nero — contained “varying levels of [fecal] bacteria.” …
Tony Lewis, the head of policy at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, said the levels found were “concerning.” He said the types of bacteria identified were “the source of human disease,” adding: “These should not be present at any level — never mind the significant numbers found.”

Charlie is a 10-month-old with the misfortune of suffering from mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome, and the possibly still greater misfortune of having been born in a country with socialized medicine. Matt Walsh reports:
The hospital that had been treating the boy, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, made the determination that nothing more can be done for him and he must be taken off of life support. He should “die with dignity,” they said. The parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, disagreed.
This is the very crucial thing to understand: they are not insisting that GOSH be forced to keep Charlie on life support. Rather, they want to take him out of the hospital and to America to undergo a form of experimental therapy that a doctor here had already agreed to administer. Chris and Connie raised over $1.6 million to fund this last ditch effort to save their child’s life. All they needed the British hospital to do was release their child into their care, which doesn’t seem like a terribly burdensome request.

For highly sensitive people, we tend to be creative and have active minds. However, the downside is this means we’re more vulnerable to anxiety. Our minds can easily conjure up all kinds of negative fantasies that fuel our anxiety and make it worse.
Because of a biological difference in our nervous system, we absorb more stimulation from our environment — like noise, small details that others miss, and even other people’s emotions — which can lead us to feel overwhelmed.
Remember these 10 things when you feel anxious

Nothing funny about this ... Ron White's wife is tapping out of their marriage, and it looks like the length of their union will be a major point of contention. Margo Rey filed divorce docs last week in Los Angeles ... saying they've been separated since May 8. They got married in October 2013 ... and have no children. Now, here's what's interesting -- in the docs Margo says she and Ron had a common law marriage in Texas since 2008 ... long before they officially tied the knot. In Texas, a couple can be considered married in the eyes of the law if they live together as husband and wife and hold themselves out in public as a married couple. HIS BAR TAB SHOULD BE FIGURED IN.

PEABODY — Nearly six years after a brush with death, Gene Sauers won last year’s US Senior Open to earn his first major championship in 32 years as a professional golfer. On Tuesday, Sauers was asked about the most memorable thing he got to do with the championship trophy in the last year. “Well, I guess the coolest thing would be to take it down there to Mr. Trump, down to Palm Beach, Trump’s place down there,” Sauers said in his Savannah, Ga., drawl. “So he got to hold it a few times, and he loved it. “I got some pictures with him and stuff like that. But that’s probably one of the coolest things, you know?”
