We have let the free stuff giving go on for so long that there are now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff.

Now understand this. All great democracies have committed financial suicide somewhere between 200 and 250 years after being founded. The reason? The voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury by electing people who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them.

The United States officially became a Republic in 1776, 235 years ago. The number of people now getting free stuff outnumbers the people paying for the free stuff. We have one chance to change that. In 2012. Failure to change that spells the end of the United States as we know it.

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning

or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

Do you think I care about four U. S. Marines urinating on some dead Taliban insurgents?

And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were

claiming to be tortured by a justice system of a

nation they are fighting against in a brutal Insurgency.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle

East, start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief

of which, is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan .

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are

sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head, while Berg

screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called insurgents

in Afghanistan , come out and fight like men,

instead of disrespecting their own religion by

hiding in Mosques and behind women and children.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow

themselves up in search of Nirvana, care about the

innocent children within range of their suicide Bombs.

I'll care when the Canadian media stops pretending that

their freedom of Speech on stories, is more important than

the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting

at home, to hear about them when something happens.

A farmer stopped by the local mechanics shop to have his truck fixed. They couldn't do it while he waited, so he said he didn't live far and would walk home.

The farmer said, 'Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house. I would walk you there but I can't carry this lot.'

'Why thank you very much,' he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home.

Organizers of a community meeting in Rehoboth, Namibia, who tried to encourage attendance at the meeting with a promise to serve free barbecued donkey meat, faced a protest walk-out when they failed to fulfill their promise.

New Era reports the organizers of the meeting did honestly attempt to fulfill their promise, but when they got to the donkey market, they found only female donkeys which, apparently, were not considered acceptable alternative to the meat from male donkeys. They were thus forced to remove free donkey meat from the programme.

But the crowd that flocked to the meeting did not take kindly to the unexpected removal of the major item on the meeting agenda. The crowd became angry and decided to spite the meeting organizers by moving en masse to a meeting only 500 yards away organized by the main rival group where free refreshments and entertainment were provided. According to a witness who spoke to New Era, "The highly publicised and anticipated community meeting failed to get off the ground in the southern town when the organisers were unsuccessful in their endeavour to deliver free donkey meat as promised." A witness Romorio Beukes, said: "These guys took us for a ride. It's simple: no donkey meat, no meeting."

Employees at Lacey's Gentleman's Club told police a 33-year-old man was upset after a dancer, who provided a private dance for him, refused a sexual solicitation. The man left and came back with a handgun and attempted to rob the business.

The dancer and another woman escaped to the roof of the club where they called police. When the police arrived they helped the two women from the roof, however by that time the manager had climbed onto the roof as well where the irate customer chased him and shot him.

At that point an officer fired at the suspect, who fled back into the club and apparently set a fire, which was put out by the club's sprinkler system.

The man was found later on the floor of the manager's office, dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities said there is no evidence at this time that the suspect was struck by police gunfire.

And all of this could have been avoided if this man had just crossed the border into Nevada...or rubbed one out at home to a little Internet porn.

Last year, a federal program paid out $1.6 billion to cover free cell phones and the monthly bills of 12.5 million wireless accounts. The program, overseen by the FCC and intended to help low-income Americans, is popular for obvious reasons, with participation rising steeply since 2008, when the government paid $772 million for phones and monthly bills. But observers complain that the program suffers from poor oversight, in which phones go to people who don't qualify, and hundreds of thousands of those who do qualify have more than one phone.

More people across the world are happy being single and living alone, according to a new book, and author Eric Klinenberg explains why going solo doesn't always mean being lonely and depressed, contrary to misconceptions.

You've likely seen a movie or TV show where someone living alone was portrayed as a loner, recluse or weirdo. Who lives solo these days, right? Happy people are married with nuclear families and a busy household, or so Hollywood would like us to believe.

NYU sociology professor Eric Klinenberg says nope, that's not true at all. His new book Going Solo: The Extraordinary Rise and Surprisingly Appeal of Living Alone documents one of the most seismic demographic shifts since the baby boom: in 1950, only 4 million Americans lived alone. Today, around 32 million Americans live alone, and that figure is analagous across many countries, not just in the West.

Why is this going-solo trend so popular? In the book, Klinenberg writes, "Both the wealth generated by economic development and the social security provided by modern welfare states have enabled the spike...Living alone helps us pursue sacred modern values – individual freedom, personal control, and self-realization – whose significance endures from adolescence to our final days."

No hiding place from new U.S. Army rifles that use radio-controlled smart bullets.

The XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement System has a range of roughly 2,300 feet and is to be deployed in Afghanistan this month.

The rifle's gunsight uses a laser rangefinder to determine the exact distance to the obstruction, after which the soldier can add or subtract up to 3 metres from that distance to enable the bullets to clear the barrier and explode above or beside the target.

Soldiers will be able to use them to target snipers hidden in trenches rather than calling in air strikes.

The 25-millimetre round contains a chip that receives a radio signal from the gunsight as to the precise distance to the target.

Lt. Col. Christopher Lehner, project manager for the system, described the weapon as a 'game-changer' that other nations will try and copy.

He expects the Army to buy 12,500 of the XM25 rifles this year.

Lehner told FoxNews: 'With this weapon system,
we take away cover from [enemy targets] forever.

'Tactics are going to have to be rewritten.
The only thing we can see [enemies] being able to do is run away.'

Experts say the rifle means that enemy troops will no longer
be safe if they take cover

The XM25 appears perfect weapon for street-to-street fighting that troops in Afghanistan have to engage in, with enemy fighters hiding behind walls and only breaking cover to fire occasionally.

The weapon's laser finder would work out how far away the enemy was and then the U.S. soldier would add one metre using a button near the trigger.

When fired, the explosive round would carry exactly one metre past the wall and explode with the force of a hand grenade above the Taliban fighter.

The army's project manager for new weapons, Douglas Tamilio, said:

'This is the first leap-ahead technology for troops that we've been able to develop and deploy.'

A patent granted to the bullet's maker, Alliant Techsystems,
reveals that the chip can calculate how far it has travelled.
Mr. Tamilio said: 'You could shoot a Javelin missile, and it would cost $43,000. These rounds will end up costing $15.50 apiece. They're relatively cheap. Lehner added:

This is a game-changer.

The enemy has learned to get cover, for hundreds if not thousands of years.

The rifle will initially use high-explosive rounds, but its makers say that it might later use versions with smaller explosive charges that aim to stun rather than kill..

Apple has become a major purveyor of the mythology of the high-tech classroom. "Education is deep in our DNA," declared Phil Schiller, Apple's marketing chief, at its Jan. 19 education event. "We're finding that as students are starting to be introduced to iPad and learning, some really remarkable things are happening."

Of course Apple draped its new business initiative in all sorts of Steve Jobsian pixie dust, as if it's all about revolutionizing education. The company's most amusing claim is that iPads are somehow more "durable" than textbooks and therefore more affordable, over time. Its website weeps copious crocodile tears over the sad fate of textbooks — "as books are passed along from one student to the next, they get more highlighted, dog-eared, tattered and worn." Yet as James Kendrick of ZDNet reports, school administrators who have handed laptops out to students to take home say the devicesget beaten nearly to death in no time. The reality is obvious: Drop a biology textbook on a floor, you pick it up. Drop an iPad, you'll be sweeping it up.

Apple and its government mouthpieces speak highly of the ability to feed constant updates to digital textbooks so they never go out of date. But that's relevant to a rather small subset of schoolbooks such as those dealing with the leading edge of certain sciences — though I'm not sure how many K-12 pupils are immersed in advanced subjects such as quantum mechanics or string theory. The standard text of "Romeo and Juliet," on the other hand, has been pretty well locked down since 1599.

New medical-device tax will steal jobs

A year from now, the federal government will start collecting a new tax on medical devices -- from tongue depressors to imaging machines -- thanks to the sweeping health care overhaul that Democrats enacted in the spring of 2010.

People in the industry say it's already having an effect.

In November, citing the new tax, Stryker Corp., whose products include artificial hips and knees, announced that it would let go about 1,000 of its workers.

Earlier last year, Covidien, maker of surgical instruments, said it would lay off 200 workers in the United States and move production to Costa Rica and Mexico. It, too, cited the tax.

Other companies in the field have announced similar measures -- or plans to expand production overseas but not in the United States -- without mentioning the tax.

Man swallows dentures during sex and dies

A 74-YEAR-OLD man died after he accidentally swallowed his dentures during sex with a 62-year-old prostitute in Taiwan, reported Nanyang Siang Pau.

The man, known as Chen, had been living with a close female friend in New Taipei City after separating from his wife many years ago.

The prostitute said she had sex with Chen for 30 minutes.

She said Chen had got up from the bed, paid her and was about to put on his clothes when he suddenly collapsed.

"He fell back onto the bed. His eyes were open but he was not moving although I shook his body and tried to wake him up," said the woman, who called the rescue team.

An economics professor at a local college said that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich - a great equaliser.

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.

The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little, studied even less and those who had previously studied hard, decided they wanted a free ride. So they too studied little.

The second test average was a D!

No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Couldn't be any simpler than that.

The behavior of the small group of Mashco-Piro Indians has puzzled scientists, who say it may be related to the encroachment of loggers and by low-flying aircraft from nearby natural gas and oil exploration in the southeastern region of the country.

Clan members have been blamed for two bow-and-arrow attacks on people near the riverbank in Madre de Dios state where officials say the Indians were first seen last May.

One badly wounded a forest ranger in October.
