The Ayatollah is pleased – and no wonder

It is hard to have confidence in a deal struck by Barack Obama, the
European Union, and the leaders of a brutal Islamist tyranny that treats
any dissent with an iron fist. It smacks of the kind of ugly
appeasement that belongs to another era, and not the 21st Century. With
good reason, the US president was mocked on the headline of
the Drudge Report,
his head superimposed upon the figure of Neville Chamberlain, clutching
a piece of paper, declaring “peace for our time.” The agreement struck
with the Mullahs of Tehran, the world’s biggest sponsor of state
terrorism, has been hailed by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei
as a stunning victory for his country’s nuclear ambitions. According to
the Fars News Agency, run by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (hat tip:
The Daily Caller):
I thank God that… the new government… was able to
legitimize the Iranian nation’s nuclear program on the international
stage and take the initial step in a way that the nuclear rights and the
enrichment rights of the Iranian nation are acknowledged by world
powers where before they had tried to deny them, and (the agreement
will) open the way for future big strides in technical and economic
progress.
