My college room mate's son is in the 2-44 ADA (Joint Intercept Battalion) out of Fort Campbell, KY. He is training on this weapon system now and will deploy to rag head's-ville terrorist M/F land next month to install and operate one of these things.
The gun fires (75) 20mm armor-piercing rounds per SECOND .... 3000+ per minute, and has been retrofitted from being an anti-missile interceptor to an anti-mortar defense. My buddy tells me the thing is operated from a computer screen in a far-away trailer (think "Drones") and has enough "smarts" to know when one of the rag-head's mortar shots is actually going to MISS its target ... and fall harmlessly into their herd of goats out in the dessert. The operator can decide whether to fire on the errant mortar shell (for "fun") or to simply let it fly.
I'm told this thing has really frustrated the rag-heads as they can no longer simply lob mortar shells toward the US encampments ... hoping one might kill an infidel (that's you & me).
