PHOTO BARGE 1860's
If the customers can’t come to the photographer, the photographer will
come to the customers. This barge equipped as a floating photographic
studio traveled along the Mississippi River in the 1860s, attracting
customers from the settlements along the river. Note the
greenhouse-style glass studio to admit lots of natural light. Curtains
were raised or lowered to control the light.
