If the police inside the SUV had lifted a finger to defend civilization or their own dignity, they would have been set upon by the mob. If they had then defended themselves, they would be Derek Chauvined and potentially spend the rest of their lives behind bars. Notice how slowly they drove. They wouldn’t want one of their assailants to fall off the vehicle and twist an ankle. That might be enough to get them fired if not imprisoned.
