Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or a Southerner?

Here is a little test that will help you decide.

The answer can be found by posing the following question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife
and two small children.

Suddenly, a Terrorist with a huge knife
comes around the corner,
locks eyes with you,
screams obscenities,
raises the knife, and charges at you...

You are carrying a
Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.
What do you do?

Democrat's Answer:
·Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
·What is a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP?
·Does the man look poor or oppressed?
·Is he really a terrorist? Am I guilty of profiling?
·Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
·Could we run away?
·What does my wife think?
·What about the kids?
·Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
·What does the law say about this situation?
·Does the pistol have an appropriate safety built into it?
·Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
·Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
·Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
·If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
·Should I call 9-1-1?
·Why is this street so deserted?
·We need to raise taxes, have paint & weed day.
·Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
·I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.
·This is all so confusing!

US election: FBI probe into Clinton emails - what we know- 10/31/16

The FBI has found new emails that may be related to its investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server when she was secretary of state.
That investigation ended in July when the FBI cleared her of any criminal wrongdoing.
But FBI director James Comey says these new emails "appear to be pertinent" to the case and investigators are currently reviewing them.
There are few specifics at the moment, but here's what we know so far:
Where did they find these emails?
The emails, including some from top Clinton aide Huma Abedin, are believed to have been found on a laptop belonging to her estranged husband, former congressman Anthony Weiner.
In a letter to Congress, Mr Comey said the FBI had discovered the emails "in connection with an unrelated case".
The unrelated case is said to be an inquiry into Mr Wiener, with FBI officials investigating whether he sent sexually explicit emails to a 15-year-old girl in North Carolina.
Devices belonging to Ms Abedin and Mr Weiner were seized as part of the investigation.

What do we know about the emails?
There are said to be about 650,000 emails in total on the laptop. Mr Comey told Congress that investigators were reviewing them to see if they contained classified information.
At the end of the original investigation into Mrs Clinton, Mr Comey said her handling of sensitive material during her tenure as secretary of state was "extremely careless".
But until the FBI provides more details, we will not know whether the new emails are further examples of that mishandling.
At the moment, it is also unclear who sent or received the emails or what they were about.
What happens next?
FBI investigators will review the emails to "assess their importance to our investigation," according to Mr Comey.
But he declined to give a timeframe, saying he "cannot predict how long it will take us to complete this additional work".
Mrs Clinton's campaign team have called on Mr Comey to release further information as soon as possible.
What was the initial scandal about?
Before becoming secretary of state in 2009, Mrs Clinton set up an email server at her home in Chappaqua, New York, that she used for all work and personal emails during her four years in office.
She did not use, or even activate, a email account, which would have been hosted on servers owned and managed by the US government.
She said it was for convenience but critics said it gave her control over what information entered the public domain.
What is the email scandal all about?
What is Clinton saying?
Hillary Clinton said: "The American people deserve to get the full and complete facts immediately"
Responding shortly after news of the inquiry emerged, Mrs Clinton said she was "confident" the emails would not change the outcome of the FBI's previous investigation.
"The American people deserve to get the full and complete facts immediately," she told reporters.
"It's imperative that the bureau explain this issue in question, whatever it is, without any delay."
What is Trump saying?
Trump says Clinton emails saga "bigger than Watergate"
Donald Trump announced news of the inquiry to the sound of cheers from supporters at a campaign rally in Iowa.
"It's everybody's hope that justice at last can be delivered," he told the crowd, calling it "the biggest political scandal since Watergate".
"The FBI would never have reopened this case at this time unless it were a most egregious criminal offence."
How damaging is it for Clinton?
Anthony Zurcher, BBC North America reporter, writes:
Mrs Clinton's supporters will spend the next few days in a defensive crouch, trying to assess how bad the damage could be.
It seems unlikely that this will move many voters from Mrs Clinton to Mr Trump on election day - the partisan divide between the two camps at this point is too great.
It could depress the Democrat's turnout, however, or cause her to bleed support to third-party candidates like the Green Party's Jill Stein or Libertarian Gary Johnson.
What's certain is that whether this ends up being a big deal or not, it places the spotlight on all the wrong places for the Clinton campaign. FULL BBC ARTICLE HERE

#wearenotrussian SHOCKING NEWS: The hackers supplying Wikileaks were Anonymous and Anon claims to have ALL OF HILLARY's 33k deleted emails and that they will release them by Nov 1. -Hillary together with Obama, was planning WW3 with Russia to forego criminal charges!

Hillary’s Leadership in Libya led to:
Prior to the February 17, 2011, “Day of Rage,” Libya had a national budget surplus of 8.7 percent of GDP in 2010, with oil production at 1.8 million barrels per day, on track to reach its goal of 3 million barrels per day. Currently, oil production has decreased by over 80 percent. Following the revolution, the Libyan economy contracted by an estimated 41.8 percent, with a national deficit of 17.1 percent GDP in 2011.
Before the revolution, Libya was a secure, prospering, secular Islamic country and a critical ally providing intelligence on terrorist activity post–September 11, 2001. Qaddafi was no longer a threat to the United States. Yet Secretary of State Hillary Clinton strongly advocated and succeeded in convincing the administration to support the Libyan rebels with a no-fly zone, intended to prevent a possible humanitarian disaster that turned quickly into all-out war.

JoeM Don't be ridiculous. If you took a poll in modern times, the sentiment would be reversed for your three historic examples. Modern day radical conservatives point to what other people did a century or more ago to illustrate their morality. If it wasn't so sad, it would be laughable. It embarrasses moderate Republicans.

JohnB I don't think that's true.

JoeM I'm sure it is. Maybe not in such impressive numbers. Southern Democrats were a different animal then. Ultra conservative states rights. Who does that describe in today's world? You can still have the beer, though.

DonaldS JoeM No Joe, what you said is not true, but John's post is accurate. To add to his post, the Dim's created the KKK and Hillary saw Byrd as her mentor. The Dim's have hurt the blacks in so many ways acting as if they were trying to help. Lyndon Johnson started the welfare system and now only 25% of the black families have a father in the home. It was 75% before welfare.

I'll take the generally established facts. Try as many will, you just cannot change history in order to support your particular point of view. Example: A very strong plurality of conservatives swept Ronald Reagan into the Presidency. Even 200 years from now, they will not be Democrats.

JohnB AdamR You are confused about Conservatives and Democrats. Conservative=Responsible, Democrats=free stuff paid with other people's money.

AdamR DanM I never said they were democrats, merely pointing out the ridiculous idea that the Republican Party from when these events took place doesn't resemble the current Republican Party and their philosophies in the slightest and more resembles the ideals of current day democrats. It's like talking to a brick wall, the point being missed over and over.

The best way to translate this in the current environment is to insert 'progressive' for the people who supported these initiatives and 'conservatives' for those who opposed. Fortunately, the 'progressives' of their time - no matter their party at the time - carried the day.

Fibs become as normal as the nose on your face

Little white lies have a tendency to snowball. Now we’ve found out why – the more we lie, the more our brains seem to become desensitised to the act of lying. Could this discovery help prevent dishonesty spiralling out of control?

It isn’t difficult to think of someone who has ended up in a tangled web of their own lies. “The examples are everywhere you look, whether it’s scientific, political or financial fraud, or infidelity,” says Tali Sharot at University College London. In many cases, the lies start small, but escalate.

Sharot and her colleagues wondered if a person’s brain might get desensitised to lying, in the same way we get used to the horror of a violent image if we see it enough times. Most people feel guilty when they intentionally deceive someone else, but could this feeling ebb away with practice?

To find out, Sharot and her colleagues set up an experiment that encouraged volunteers to lie. In the task, each person was shown jars of pennies, full to varying degrees. While in a brain scanner, each person had to send their estimate to a partner in another room.
Equally untrue

The partner was only shown a blurry low-resolution image of the jar, and so relied on the volunteer’s estimate. In some rounds, a correct answer would mean a financial reward for both the volunteer and their partner. But in others, the volunteer was told that a wrong answer from the partner would result in a higher reward for them, but a lower reward for their partner – and the more incorrect the answer, the greater the personal reward. In other rounds, incorrect answers benefited the partner, but not the volunteer.

Sharot found that her volunteers seemed happy to lie if it meant that their partner would benefit. On each of these rounds, the volunteer lied to the same degree. But when it came to self-serving lies, the volunteer’s dishonesty escalated over time – each lie was greater than the one before. For example, a person might start with a lie that earned them £1, but end up telling untruths worth £8.

Brain scans showed that the first lie was associated with a burst of activity in the amygdalae, areas involved in emotional responses. But this activity lessened as the lies progressed. The effect was so strong that the team could use a person’s amygdala activity while they were lying to predict how big their next lie would be.

“When you lie or cheat for your own benefit, it makes you feel bad,” says Sophie van der Zee at the Free University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. “But when you keep doing it, that feeling goes away, so you’re more likely to do it again.”

Dangerous dishonesty

“This highlights the danger of engaging in small acts of dishonesty,” says Sharot. Frequent liars are also likely to be better at lying, and harder to catch out, she says. That’s because the amygdala is responsible for general emotional arousal, and all the clues we would normally look for in a liar, such as nervous sweating.
Sharot hopes that her research will help us avoid the spiralling of lies. “If you can understand the mechanism, you might be able to nudge people away from dishonesty,” she says.
One way could be by playing on a person’s emotions to boost the level of activity in the amygdala, says Sharot. “For example, if a government wants people to pay their taxes, they might want to make an emotional case for doing so,” she says.
Van der Zee is working with insurance companies to encourage their customers to file honest claims. In her own research, she has found that people are more likely to lie if they feel they have been rejected, so she is working on ways to reduce the number of failed claims. She has also found that people are more likely to fill in claims forms honestly if they sign their name at the top of the page, before they start filling it in, rather than at the end.

WASHINGTON — A new trove of emails that appear pertinent to the now-closed investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server was discovered after the F.B.I. seized at least one electronic device shared by Anthony D. Weiner and his estranged wife, Huma Abedin, a top aide to Mrs. Clinton, federal law enforcement officials said Friday.
The F.B.I. is investigating illicit text messages that Mr. Weiner, a former Democratic congressman from New York, sent to a 15-year-old girl in North Carolina. The bureau told Congress on Friday that it had uncovered new emails related to the Clinton case — one federal official said they numbered in the tens of thousands — potentially reigniting an issue that has weighed on the presidential campaign and offering a lifeline to Donald J. Trump less than two weeks before the election.
In a letter to Congress, the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, said that emails had surfaced in an unrelated case, and that they “appear to be pertinent to the investigation.”

Longtime Clinton aide Doug Band wrote the memo in 2011 to justify himself to lawyers at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett who were reviewing his role and conducting a governance review of the Clinton Foundation at the insistence of Chelsea Clinton. In an email two weeks earlier, also published on WikiLeaks, Ms. Clinton said her father had been told that Mr. Band’s firm Teneo was “hustling” business at the Clinton Global Initiative, a regular gathering of the wealthy and powerful that is ostensibly about charitable activity.
Poor innocent Chelsea. Bill and Hillary must never have told her what business they’re in. If she had known, she would never have hired a blue-chip law firm to sweep through the hallways of the Clinton Foundation searching for conflicts of interest. Instead of questioning Mr. Band’s compensation, she would have pleaded with him never to reveal the particulars of his job in writing.
