After months of trying, two women have officially completed the third course of Army Ranger School and will graduate on Friday, making them the first women ever to earn the prestigious Ranger Tabs.
The Army allowed women to enter Ranger School for the first time this year, and 19 women signed up for the course starting in April. Only eight made it through the first week, and none of them made it through the second phase, even after two tries.
Three of them were then given the option to do a day one recycle. Two of the women, who are graduating this week, successfully completed the third course. The third could not complete the second course and has been recycled again. The women were given no special considerations and standards were not lowered for them in any way.
Out of the 19 women and 381 men who began Ranger School, only two women and 94 men are graduating. The ceremony will take place at Victory Pond in Fort Benning, Georgia.
