Janis genuinely looks happy here. Tom Jones said in an interview that Janis told him after this, "Wow, you can really sing!" To all the existing so-called singers: outperform them, if you can.

Tom was excellent at reading his guest's musical style and subtly fitting in or outright copying it, always letting his guests take the lead -- whether it was Sammy Davis, Jr. or Isaac Hayes or Janis Joplin. He had a real talent for it, as well as his own style, of course. He copied Janis' style and she was diggin' it.
