CNN: Obama spoke longer; Romney spoke more
NEW YORK (AP) — President Barack Obama spoke longer in the first two presidential debates, but rival Mitt Romney spoke more.
CNN
said Thursday that Romney spoke more words in both debates than Obama,
even though the network's on-air clock showed Obama had more speaking
time. Some of the Republican candidate's supporters had questioned why
the president had been given more time.
During
the first debate, Obama spoke for 42 minutes, 50 seconds, compared to
38:32 for Romney. But CNN said Romney got in 7,802 words and Obama spoke
7,294 words.
Same thing during Tuesday's debate: Obama's time count was 44:04 and Romney's 40:50. Romney said 7,984 words and Obama 7,506.
CNN said the count was done by a computer program.

Former Chair of Democrats Abroad Israel For Romney
Bryna Franklin of Jerusalem is a lifelong Democrat and former chair of Democrats Abroad Israel. She voted for a Republican for President for the first time in her 80 years when she voted this year for Mitt Romney.
Bryna, a delegate to the 1992 Democratic National Convention and who served for years as vice chair of the Franklin County Democratic Central Committee in Missouri, explained her decision as stemming from a deep disappointment in President Obama on a range of issues.

Obama offered to reestablish full ties with Iran

Soon after he took office, President Barack Obama began a process ultimately designed to reestablish full US diplomatic relations with Iran, including a reopening of embassies, an Israeli daily reported Sunday. The initiative, part of a wider shift in America’s diplomatic orientation, aimed at reaching understandings with Tehran over suspending its nuclear program, Maariv claimed, citing “two Western diplomats very close to the administration.”
The initiative led to at least two US-Iran meetings, the report said. Israel was made aware of the contacts, and opposed them.
But Iran rebuffed the “diplomatic hand”
offered by the White House, Maariv reported. The Islamist regime
“opposed any sign of normalization with the US, and refused to grant a
‘prize’ to the Americans,” according to an anonymous Israeli source
quoted by the paper.

As you may know, Cruz Construction started a division in North Dakota just 6 months ago.
They send every Kenworth (9 trucks) we had here in Alaska to North Dakota and several drivers.
They just bought two new Kenworth's to add to that fleet; one being a Tri Drive tractor and a new 65 ton lowboy to go with it.
They also bought two new cranes (one crawler & one rubber tired) for that division.
Dave Cruz said they have moved more rigs in the last 6 months in ND than Cruz Construction moved in Alaska in the last 6 years.
Williston is like a gold rush town; they moved one of our 40 man camps down there since there are no rooms available.
Unemployment in ND is the lowest in the nation at 3.4 percent last I checked.

The U. S.. Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big.
It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota, and extreme eastern Montana.

"This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years," reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette .
It's a formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.'
It stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada .
For years, U. S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end.
Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago.
However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves, and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL !!!!!!
That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 2041 years straight.

Barack Obama widens the practice of extrajudicial killings
The Washington Post has started publishing a series of articles based on interviews with dozens of current and former national security officials, intelligence analysts and others, which examine evolving U.S. counterterrorism policies and the practice of targeted killing.
The first of the three stories
deals with the administration's plans for hunting terrorists and U.S.
intentions to keep adding names to kill lists.
It
reveals already existing practices of the so called "targeted killings"
in countries the U.S. is not even at war with, like Yemen and Somalia,
and even the country that in 2004 was included by George W. Bush on the
list of "major U.S. non-NATO allies", Pakistan.
"Over
the past two years," states the Washington Post, "the Obama
administration has been secretly developing a new blueprint for pursuing
terrorists, a next-generation targeting list called the 'disposition
matrix'."
In essence, this means that based on
intelligence evidence, the administration assumes the right to judge and
execute anyone without bothering about such minor things as proper
court hearings, or the right of the accused person for proper legal
defense.
Too much has been said by those who are
acquainted with the practice of "targeted killings" that they tend to
target at least as many innocent civilians as real militants. In
countries like Pakistan where a wedding in tribal areas is usually
accompanied by extensive shooting in the air, this has often resulted in
a wedding turning into a mass funeral.

U.N.'s war on Israel
The Human Rights Council (HRC), a body dominated by Islamic countries and known for its hostility to, and heavy focus on, the Jewish State, issued the report. The George W. Bush administration refused to participate in the HRC, but President Barack Obama joined it soon after taking office. Members of the HRC include infamous human rights abusers such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Libya, China, and Cuba.
Should the companies continue doing business in Israel, the Human Rights Council “calls on civil society to actively pursue legal and political redress against non-complying business” and “to vigorously pursue initiatives to boycott, divest and sanction the businesses highlighted in this report” and “calls on the international community to consider requesting an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice” to punish the businesses.
When the Obama administration joined the Human Rights Council in 2009, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice pledged, “Working from within, we can make the council a more effective forum to promote and protect human rights.”
LIPSTICK PROBLEM AT THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL
According to a news report, a certain
Catholic school was recently faced with a unique problem. A number of
12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in
the bathroom. That was fine provided it was of a natural or neutral skin
tone, but after they put on their lipstick, they would press their lips
to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.
Every night the maintenance man would remove them; and the next day the girls would put them back.
Finally, the principal, Sister Mary, decided that something had to be done.
She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian, who had to clean the mirrors every night
(you can just imagine the yawns from the little princesses).
To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, Sister Mary asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required. He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet,
and cleaned the mirror with it.
Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.
There are teachers…… And then there are educators!

BUBBA'S NEW BULL
Bubba went to the local bank to borrow money for a new bull. The loan was made and Banker Bill , who lent the money, came by a week later to see how the bull was doing. Bubba complained that the bull just ate grass and wouldn’t even look at a cow. The Banker suggested that he have a veterinarian take a look at the bull.
Next week, the Banker returned to see if the vet had helped. Bubba really looked very pleased. “The bull has serviced all of my cows! He broke through the fence, and bred all my neighbor’s cows! He’s been breeding just about everything in sight. He’s like a machine!”
“Wow,” said The Banker, “what did the vet do to that bull?”
“Just gave him some pills,” replied Bubba.
“What kind of pills?” asked the Banker.
“I don’t know, but they taste like peppermint.”

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America.
ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It’s 8.1%.
COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?
ABBOTT: No, that’s 14.7%.
COSTELLO: You just said 8.1%.
ABBOTT: 8.1% Unemployed.
COSTELLO: Right 8.1% out of work.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it’s 14.7% unemployed.
ABBOTT: No, that’s 8.1%.

ABBOTT: 8.1% are unemployed. 14.7% are out of work.
COSTELLO: IF you are out of work you are unemployed.
ABBOTT: No, Obama said you can’t count the “Out of Work” as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.
COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!

ABBOTT: Someone who doesn’t look for work can’t be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn’t be fair.

ABBOTT: The unemployed.
COSTELLO: But they are ALL out of work.
ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work gave up looking and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.
COSTELLO: So if you’re off the unemployment roles that would count as less unemployment?
ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!
COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don’t look for work?
ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That’s how Obama gets it to 8.1%. Otherwise it would be 14.7%. He doesn’t want you to read about 14.7% unemployment.
COSTELLO: That would be tough on his reelection.
ABBOTT: Absolutely.
COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number?
ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.
COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?
ABBOTT: Correct.
COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?
ABBOTT: Bingo.
COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to have Obama’s supporters stop looking for work.
ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like the Obama Economy Czar.
COSTELLO: I don’t even know what the hell I just said!
ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like Obama.
