The city of Flint, Michigan, gave pay raises to its city council members and mayor Friday, boosting its mayor’s salary by more than a third from $91,801 to $125,000. Flint has a per capita income of $16,554, according to Census figures, meaning Mayor Karen Weaver will now be making between seven and eight times as much as an average constituent in the 100,000-person city. The city is best known for a contaminated water crisis that began after the City Council voted 7-1 to begin supplying water from the Flint River instead of from Detroit. Because of the great job she's doing!

The persecution and genocide of Christians across the world is worse today “than at any time in history,” and Western governments are failing to stop it, a report from a Catholic organization said. The report examined the plight of Christians in China, Egypt, Eritrea, India, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria and Turkey over the period lasting from 2015 until 2017. The research showed that in that time, Christians suffered crimes against humanity, and some were hanged or crucified. The report found that Saudi Arabia was the only country where the situation for Christians did not get worse, and that was only because the situation couldn’t get any worse than it already was.

From WKRG – The Mobile County District Attorney’s office says an illegal immigrant who is (was) days away from his 17th birthday is responsible for a crash that killed a woman on US 98 Monday 3/18/19. Prosecutors say Domingo Francisco Marcos hit Sonya Jones head-on, killing her then tried to run off. He was injured too badly to run and collapsed. He was then taken to USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital for surgery. Marcos was released in 2017 when he claimed asylum. That was in Arizona where officials were trying to deport him back to Guatemala. He never showed up in court on the asylum claim so it was denied. But, he disappeared and was never deported.

General Assembly. This meeting of now-Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., with Mr. Erdogan, the despotic ruler of Turkey, went almost entirely unreported, as it was not open to the press and Omar was not a high-profile figure. Since then, photos of the meeting surfaced on social media, but it largely appeared that there was no report detailing what happened during the hour-long meeting.
