Big Country was done early last night!

UFC 159 Results: Roy Nelson Crushes Cheick Kongo with First-Round KO

Coming into his UFC 159 bout with Cheick Kongo, heavyweight slugger Roy Nelson was riding a career-high wave of good fortune. He dispatched of his prior two opponents via first-round knockout. On Saturday in Newark, N.J., the crowd in attendance got to see “Big Country” do what he does best, and unfortunately for Kongo that’s knocking people out in the first round.
For the opening minutes of the first frame, Nelson stalked a jab-happy Kongo.  The bearded brawler walked the French kickboxer down with a workman-like patience.
The crowd grew restless as the fighters clinched and exchanged meaningless leg kicks.
Then, all of a sudden, at 2:03 of the first round, Nelson unleashed a sloppy overhand right that connected to the chin of Kongo, leaving him face-first on the canvas.
There was a brief protest by a recovering Kongo, but he soon halted any complaints as his corner came in and told him what happened.
Nelson earned his third consecutive knockout victory and sixth overall UFC victory with the finish.
