Loganville
-
A Georgia mother shot an intruder five times in the face and neck at her
home on Henderson Ridge Lane in Loganville on Friday. She shot the
stranger after he cornered her in the attic crawlspace where she ran to
hide with her 9-year-old twins.
According to WSB-TV,
Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman, said the woman was working in an
upstairs office around 1 p.m. when she saw a strange man outside through
a window of her home. The Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC)
reports the man knocked on the door of the house but the woman, unable
to identify the visitor, refused to answer. When the visitor began
ringing the doorbell persistently, she called her husband, Donnie
Herman, who was at work.
Mr. Herman immediately dialed 911, while his 37-year-old wife hid their 9-year-old twins in the attic.
According CBS 6, when no one answered the door, the stranger reportedly went back to his car and returned with a crowbar. The Blaze
reports the mother said that from her office window, she could see the
suspect, whom police have identified as Paul Ali Slater, forcing his way
into the house with a crowbar. After he forced his way into the house,
he began rummaging through the family belongings.
According to The Blaze, he finally cornered the family in an attic crawlspace.
When Slater opened the closet in which the woman and her children were
hiding, she fired six bullets at him. Five hit him in the face and neck.
