(CNN)A German special forces unit arrested two men in a Berlin raid Thursday who are accused of plotting “a significant criminal act against state security,” according to Berlin authorities.

The two men were arrested in the Britz section of the German capital after a search was conducted on an Islamic cultural center, police said.

The suspects, whose identities have not been released, are 28 and 46, according to police, and the German newspaper Der Tagesspeigel reports that one of them was Tunisian and the other Syrian.

Police said “a suspected dangerous object” found in a vehicle linked to the suspects prompted an evacuation of nearby residences…

PARIS: President Francois Hollande vowed Friday to destroy the “army of fanatics” behind the Paris attacks but also said France would respond with more songs, concerts and shows as the nation paused to honour the 130 killed.

“On November 13, a day we will never forget, France was hit at its very heart,” Hollande told a solemn ceremony in the courtyard of the historic Invalides, the 17th-century complex housing Napoleon’s tomb.

“To all of you, I solemnly promise that France will do everything to destroy the army of fanatics that committed these crimes,” he said before a crowd of 2,600 dignitaries and some of those injured in the violence.

Some of the wounded sat in wheelchairs, while firefighters and ambulance personnel in uniform stood silently in rows, two weeks to the day since gunmen opened fire on bars, restaurants and a concert hall and detonated suicide vests at the Stade de France stadium.

Photographs of the victims were displayed on a giant screen, their young faces evidence that the attackers struck at those enjoying a Friday night out in the French capital.

“We will not give in either to fear or to hate,” said Hollande, vowing that the French would respond to the attacks defiantly, with more “songs, concerts and shows. We will continue to go to stadiums.”

The attacks – claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group in response for French air strikes on the jihadists in Iraq and Syria – were the worst-ever terror attack on French soil, leaving 130 dead and 350 injured. Most were under 35.

Hollande said “130 destinies had been stolen, 130 laughs that will never be heard again,” adding that they had come from more than 50 places in France and 17 countries.

The attackers acted “in the name of an insane cause and a betrayed God,” he said.

Ceremony boycotted

However, a handful of the victims’ families boycotted Friday’s ceremony, saying the government failed to take sufficient measures to protect the nation in the wake of the jihadist shootings at Charlie Hebdo satirical newspaper and a Jewish supermarket in Paris in January.

“Thanks Mr President, politicians, but we don’t want your handshake or your tribute, and we hold you partly responsible for what has happened!” Emmanuelle Prevost, whose brother was one of the 90 slaughtered at the Bataclan concert hall on November 13, wrote on Facebook.

Ground troops and helicopter gunships killed another 20 members of the al-Qaeda-linked group as they fled to the Arabia Hills along the Kenya-Somali border, it said. Al-Shabaab, in a statement broadcast on Radio Andalus, denied they lost fighters in Kenyan attacks.

“This rapid action is itself a huge victory against regional terrorist networks,” Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto said in a statement. “It emboldens us to ultimately deliver our promise to secure our citizens against internal and external aggression.”

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the Nov. 22 attack on a bus while it was traveling between the towns of Mandera and Bulla Arabia, about 800 kilometers (500 miles) northeast of the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Non-Muslims were separated from other passengers before being killed by gunmen, according to Mandera Deputy County Commissioner Elvin Korir.

Arizona State Senator Carlyle Begay, a Navajo (who also call themselves Diné) whose district includes Navajo and Hopi tribal lands, announced Monday that he is switching to the Republican Party.

Begay, 34, was appointed to the Arizona Senate in 2013 as a Democrat and re-elected in 2014.

In a moving video, Begay describes his Native American roots and the desperate conditions and challenges his constituents face.  “This is not how our distinguished ancestors saw our future,” he said.  “Change must happen now.”

Praising the GOP for working with him to improve conditions for his constituents, Begay said that his decision “will not be popular for some.”

“I clearly see the Republican Party as a party of progress, the party of opportunity, and moving forward, my party,” the video concludes.

With this up-and-coming young legislator’s addition, Republicans now control 18 of 30 seats in the Arizona upper chamber.

A senior German police official says some of the migrants reaching Europe are Islamic State radicals planning terrorist attacks, but the refugee influx is not systemically used by extremists to bring members into the EU.

The Austria Press Agency cited German federal police chief Hans-Georg Maasen as saying that some who blend in with the migrants fought with IS and are planning a "combat mission" once they arrive in Europe. He said Thursday that his office knows of 7,900 Islamic radicals in Germany who advocate violence to advance their goals, with some trying to win migrants to their cause.

He said German authorities receive one or two "fairly concrete tips" a week of planned terrorist activity. And he described IS extremists as "combat-hardened professionals" more dangerous than those from al-Qaida.

INGREDIENTS

4 Yukon Gold potatoes, washed, peeled, and diced
1 can white beans (cannellini or great northern white), washed and drained
1/2 cup veggie broth
1 garlic clove, minced
Salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

1. Add the potatoes to a pot of boiling water and cook until tender, about 15 minutes.
2. While the potatoes are cooking, simmer the beans with the veggie broth and garlic in a covered pan.
3. Drain the potatoes and add them to the beans and broth mixture. Use a fork or masher to get the desired creamy consistency.

In October 2014 two Austrian girls abandoned their homes and families to become “poster girls” for ISIS terrorists. In April they left a note for that parents that read: “Don’t look for us. We will serve Allah, and we will die for him.” They had a change of heart in October and desperately wanted to come home.

Samra Kesinovic (then 17) and her friend Sabina Selimovic (then 15) left Austriaand were believed to be married, pregnant and living in the ISIS-controlled city of Raqqa in northern Syria.

Now comes word that Samra (now 18) has been beaten to death after trying to escape the group’s Syrian stronghold of Raqqa. A Tunisian woman who had been living with Samra says the young girl was killed by Islamic State extremists after she tried to flee recently, according to The Local Austria.

The gal pals had traveled to the war-torn nation with the hope of becoming “jihadi brides” — and they later married two of the ISIS militants upon their arrival. Photos posted to social media in the following months showed the pair wearing black burkas and wielding AK-47s. Officials said earlier this year they believed Selimovic had been killed during a skirmish in Syria.

His [co-]conspirator, Mohanad Shareef Hammadi, was also let in through the refugee program and is now serving a life sentence. …

In another recent case, an Uzbek refugee in Idaho was found guilty of conspiracy and attempting to support a terrorist organization, after he had allegedly been stockpiling explosives. …

Other high-profile terrorists entered the U.S. first and then applied for asylum, which can be granted to people who “meet the definition of refugee,” according to the government’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

That includes the Boston marathon bombers, who came from Chechnya and were granted asylum in the U.S. before killing three and injuring more than 250 people.

Members of the “Fort Dix 6,” who were convicted of conspiracy to murder U.S. military personnel, also entered seeking asylum; they were never granted it, but were never removed from the country, either.

If you want to see a much longer list, allow Obama, Shrillary, et al. to import as many Muslims as they want, then sit back and wait a few years. The list will start to look like this one. Not that the media or the government will acknowledge it.

Several black teenagers approached a woman in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington Monday, shortly after she secured her baby in her car, and smashed out her windows with a large rock.

The incident began around noon when the woman picked her daughter up from music class. She later gave a detailed first person account of what happened on a neighborhood listserv.

She had just strapped her child in the car and was looking for snacks in her diaper bag when she looked up and saw a group of teenagers rushing up on her and trying to surround her car.

According to the woman, she frantically locked and closed the car door and ran to the driver’s side and safely locked herself in the car. The door on the other side of the car was still unlocked, but she was able to hop over into the other seat and lock it as well.

“By some miracle I was able to jump into the other side of the car, again locking it behind me and evade one of the teens as he tried to get into the car,” she wrote.

As the woman tried to pull her car away from the teenagers, one of them jumped on top of the car and smashed a large rock through the car’s sun roof.

A report from Metropolitan Police Commander Melvin Gresham confirmed the story Tuesday night, saying “one of the subjects jumped on the running board of the victim’s vehicle and smashed the window of the vehicle’s sunroof with a large rock.”

Georgetown is the nicest part of Washington. But the Black Lives Matter mentality isn’t constrained to ghettoes and college campuses. If civilization doesn’t start defending itself, soon there will be no escape from it anywhere.
